Happy 5th Birthday Hatsune Miku! Meetups and Live Concerts!
Happy 5th Birthday to the worlds virtual idol Hatsune Miku! To many she is simply an intricate synthesizer program, but to a lot more others she is the pop idol sensation that almost represents Japanese geek culture itself. Everywhere in almost every comic or anime convention you will always see a Hatsune Miku cosplayer and the rest of the other vocaloids accompanying her.
If you want more information on her, heres a really good explanation video…or wiki whichever you prefer.
Anywho, her popularity in Japan is immense. Her Idol-fame famed earned her multiple albums, rhythm games (check out the reviews of her games!), more continuous programs, cosplayers, and even LIVE ACTION CONCERTS.
In the live action concerts other vocaloids accompany her, like Megurine Luka (my personal favorite, just saying).
MORE IMPORTANTLY: If you would like to see a live performance, heres your chance! There is one happening in Los Angeles, California at Pacific Media Expo (PMX) on November 9-11! If you enjoyed watching the concerts from the 39′s Giving Day Performance or the other performances like in Anime Expo’s Mikunopolis, then Id suggest you go to this.
When I visited Japan, her presence is very well-known all over Tokyo and other places. There are billboards, ads, commercials, and little toys dedicated to this idol. And its inescapable when you go to a music store or a Family Mart (or 7-11), as her merchandise is practically everywhere. So basically in the end, I gave in and got hooked onto the idol for what she was. Buying most of the games, merchandise, and even the Bluray of 39′s Giving Day (her first live concert)
In commemoration of this day Mikubook has a couple of things planned for today, so I’d suggest ya check it out here!
IF you are a San Diego local there is a meetup happening on Friday the 31st at Balboa Park with many of the local cosplayers!
